Il nome della mia proposta richiama quello del progetto “Precious Plastic” ideato dal designer olandese Dave Hakkens nel 2013 e infatti ne costituisce un ampliamento. L’idea consiste nella produzione di mattoni polimerici forati con funzione non strutturale, come da progetto Recycle and Rebuild, a partire dal riciclo decentrato su piccola scala di contenitori e oggetti di uso comune in HDPE o PP. L’elemento innovativo consiste nell’utilizzare la frazione organica dei rifiuti come fonte energetica, utilizzando i biodigestori domestici della start-up israeliana Homebiogas e un sistema di cogenerazione per la produzione dell’energia elettrica per alimentare le macchine di Precious Plastic. Il digestato liquido prodotto dai bio-digestori può essere utilizzato come liquido di coltura per la produzione di microalghe, come già sperimentato dalla start-up israeliana “I Nuovi Mille”. La realizzazione di tale idea, ancora in stato embrionale, ridurrebbe la quantità di rifiuti trasportati a carico delle amministrazioni comunali e renderebbe possibile una migliore differenziazione del rifiuto plastico.

The name of my proposal recalls that of the “Precious Plastic” project conceived by Dutch designer Dave Hakkens in 2013 and in fact is an extension of it. The idea consists in the production of perforated polymeric bricks with a non-structural function, as per the Recycle and Rebuild project, starting from small-scale decentralized recycling of containers and everyday objects made of HDPE or PP. The innovative element consists in using the organic fraction of waste as an energy source, using the domestic biodigesters of the Israeli start-up Homebiogas and a cogeneration system for the production of electricity to power the machines of Precious Plastic. The liquid digestate produced by the bio-digesters can be used as a culture liquid for the production of microalgae, as already experimented by the Israeli start-up “I Nuovi Mille”. The realization of this idea, still in an embryonic state, would reduce the amount of waste transported at the expense of municipalities and would make possible a better sorting of plastic waste.
