The third industrial revolution age with its 200 million billion calculations per second supercomputers and its supersonic aircrafts is imposing ever more speed-oriented rhythms of life. The efficiency of any process and any action, even the simplest, is now in symbiosis with the speed of performing them. Since the most famous slogan of our modern world is “Time is money!”, the need to find a way to break down waste of time as much as possible arises. The latest is the main enemy of the frenzy of our days. This project, therefore, consists in developing a device that can allow the individual user to avoid the enormous loss of time of being physically in line and, consequently, using the saved time to perform other tasks simultaneously. In particular, it is a sort of very small and pocket pager, which by means of radio wave operation has the ability to transmit numbers and small messages to the user shown on a small monochrome LCD display. In this way, the user who requests its use in any public or private office / body can join the line, for example to use the services provided at a desk open to the public and continue to carry out its activities in any other place in the city. In the meantime, the device transmits real-time updates on the progress of the “virtual” line and, as the user’s turn approaches, he has plenty of time to reorganize his return to the office / institution where the queue takes place. Fundamentally, the technology behind this project is rather simple and, in some respects, surpassed by the now increasingly advanced smartphones. But because of their great computing power, these are not simple enough to perform an equally simple function: reducing the typical dead times of queues. A smartphone must have a specific app customized by the office / institution where you want to use this service, it could receive a sudden call interrupting, thus, the function of communicating updates on the line, could suddenly receive updates and shut down etc.

The DONWAIT “pager” device, draws inspiration from the now abandoned AM / FM portable mini radios and works in a very simple way, taking advantage of an already existing technology and with a very low energy requirement. The model would be universal but customized for each body / office to work by means of a specific signal frequency.
